British hostage freed after years in Iraq

Published on 30 December 2009 - 6:49pm
More about:

British IT specialist, Peter Moore, has been released after being held captive by a radical Shiite group in Iraq for over two and a half years. He is reported to be in good health.

He was abducted in Baghdad in May 2007 together with four British bodyguards by 40 men disguised as Iraqi police officers. Three of the bodyguards were later shot by their captors. Their bodies were flown home to Great Britain in June and September this year. The fate of the fourth guard remains unknown.
