Britain braced for flooding

Published on 17 January 2010 - 6:07pm
More about:

The authorities in Great Britain have issued flood alerts for many areas in northern England, Wales and Scotland.

Rainfall and melting snow and ice have heightened the threat of rivers bursting their banks. Drainage is being hampered by the fact that the ground is still largely frozen. The country has recently been hit by the coldest weather for 30 years.
