Published on 27 June 2009 - 8:49am
More about:

Brazil has ended the search for victims of the French Airbus which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean four weeks ago.

A spokesperson for the Brazilian air force said it is now almost impossible to find either wreckage or bodies. However, the search for the flight recorders is continuing, even though the signals they emit will gradually die out. They are believed to be a few kilometres under water on the seabed.

There were 228 people on board the Air France plane when it crashed after flying into a storm. So far, only 51 bodies have been recovered.
