Bosnian War criminal arrested in Spain

Published on 2 March 2010 - 9:16pm
More about:

A man suspected of involvement in war crimes during the 1992-1995 Bosnian War has been arrested in Spain. Veselin Vlahovic, a 40-year-old Serbian who was born in Montenegro, had been wanted internationally for rape, torture and the murders of approximately 100 women and children.

Mr Vlahovic, alias Blatko, was also known as 'The Monster of Grbavica'. Grbavica, a suburb of the city of Sarajevo, is where Mr Vlahovic is said to have committed most of his crimes.

The arrest comes one day after that of Ejup Ganic, a former leader of the Bosnian Muslims. He was arrested in the United Kingdom for suspected war crimes during the Bosnian War.
