Bomb attack hits Greek press ministry

Published on 16 January 2010 - 10:10am
More about:

A bomb has exploded outside Greece's press ministry. No one has been injured.

The explosive device had been hidden in a rubbish bin. An anonymous call to two TV stations had warned of the blast 15 minutes before the device went off. The authorities blame the bombing on a Greek leftist guerrilla group, which claimed responsibility a blast outside parliament on 10 January. The attack caused no injuries either.

Leftist and anarchist groups have been attacking police, businesses and public institutions since the police killing of a teenager triggered Greece's worst riots in decades in December of 2008.
