In London, hundreds of anti-fascist protestors attempted to storm the BBC's studios on Thursday evening, in protest at an appearance by far-right politician Nick Griffin on the debate programme Question Time. Around 25 activists were able to break through a police cordon and had to be dragged out of the BBC's Television Centre.
It is the first time that a member of the far-right British National Party was allowed to take part in the long-running and influential TV show. Mr Griffin took part in a panel discussion with other political figures, including Britain's Justice Secretary Jack Straw.
