Silvio Berlusconi has told journalists in Sardinia that he is the best prime minister in the history of Italy.

During a press conference Spanish newspaper Al Pais asked the Italian PM about his extramarital escapades, which have led to his wife asking for a divorce. Mr Berlusconi said he has never considered resigning because of the commotion in his personal affairs.

He pointed out he is the longest sitting prime minister Italy has ever had and that polls indicate 70 percent of voters back him. He also announced legal steps against the women who says he paid her for sex.
