Bangkok airport prepares for demonstrations

Published on 10 March 2010 - 4:48pm
More about:

The airport in the Thai capital Bangkok has prepared emergency measures in case anti-government demonstrations get out of hand.

From Thursday until 23 March, supporters of the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra are expected to stage protest rallies.

In 2008, Thaksin supporters blockaded the airport, preventing flights from taking off and landing.

To avoid a repetition of this situation, the airport has developed a calamity plan.

No details have been given, but international passengers have been told to check in three to four hours before departure.
