Ferocious storms in Austria have again caused extensive damage. Heavy rainfall and hailstorms caused traffic chaos, floods and land slides.

In Carinthia ten metres of motorway were washed away. A large number of houses in and around Graz were flooded. Austria has been experiencing extreme weather for over a month. One night last week saw 12,000 lightning bolts with hailstones the size of golf balls.
