The authorities in Australia have officially declared the recent flooding in New South Wales a natural disaster.
In recent days, large areas of the state were flooded by heavy rainfall. More than 1200 people had to be evacuated.
Residents can apply for compensation from the government in the case of natural disasters. The damage is expected to run into the millions.
Many farmers in the region are pleased with the rains as their harvests were under threat due to extreme drought.
