Two days before Afghanistan's presidential election, the capital Kabul has been hit by rocket and bomb attacks almost certainly the work of the Taliban. The rebels have threatened to launch further attacks to disrupt the polling.
On Tuesday, at least seven people died and over 50 were injured in a suicide attack in the east of the city, when a car packed with explosives rammed a NATO convoy. Foreign soldiers were among the casualties.
Earlier on Tuesday, the compounds of the presidential palace and police headquarters were hit by rockets. No one was hurt and there was only material damage.
Rockets were also fired at the airport in Jalalabad, in eastern Afghanistan, injuring over ten people.
