Atlanta consulate to issue Dutch visas again

Published on 5 February 2010 - 3:18pm
More about:

The Dutch consulate in the US city of Atlanta has resumed the issuing of visas after complaints by Dutch residents of the city.

Pointing to the importance of Atlanta as the headquarters of several Dutch companies, the Dutch in the city had aired their grievances via Radio Netherlands Worldwide's programme Expat on Air.

They added that Atlanta is also where the headquarters of many multinational companies are, including Coca Cola and UPS. Their employees often travel on a transit visa from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to destinations elsewhere.

The Dutch Foreign Office decided last year that consulates which hand out fewer than 500 visas per year should terminate the service.
