Prime Minister Mike Eman of the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba would like to see Dutch multinationals return.
Speaking at the end of a three-day visit to the Netherlands, Mr Eman said that Aruba provides a good springboard for business with Central and South America, because of its familiarity with the region, the language and the commercial culture.
The Aruban prime minister, who came into office after a landslide victory of his party in September, would like to see big businesses like Unilever or Philips use his island for their regional headquarters. Mr Eman also spoke to Air France KLM about reinstating its service between Amsterdam and Aruba. KLM stopped flights on the line in March 2009 after decades of service.
