In New York, a 26-year-old man has been arrested for setting fire to part of the Memorial Park chapel, a centre commemorating the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001.
The chapel, housed in a large white tent in Manhattan, is the place where the unclaimed and unidentified remains of the victims of the 9/11 attacks are kept temporarily, awaiting their final resting place at the World Trade Center Memorial, which is under construction.
CNN reports that benches and family mementoes at the shrine sustained damage. The man has been charged with arson but the reason for the attack is not yet clear.
