Amusement park welcomes 100 millionth visitor

Published on 12 September 2009 - 2:39pm
More about:

Dutch amusement park "De Efteling" has welcomed its 100 millionth visitor. On Saturday morning, the entire family of the lucky visitor was received by Little Red Riding Hood and a fakir and given. They were treated to a free VIP arrangement.

The park in the south of the country opened in 1952 and two years later had its millionth visitor, who was offered a box of cigars. In 1961, the seven millionth visitor was given a Dutch Daf car. Despite the global economic downturn, people continue to flock to the amusement park, where the number of visitors keeps growing. This year the park expects to welcome four million people, 700,000 more than last year.
