Dutch police say a car containing 71 kilos of cocaine was discovered near Amsterdam at the weekend. The drugs are said to have had a street value of millions of euros.

The driver went through a traffic checkpoint. The car was later found with its cargo of drugs but there was no sign of the driver. The owner of the car has been traced but says he had lent the car to someone else. The drugs have been destroyed.
