Amsterdam cracks down on violent nightlife

Published on 8 July 2009 - 10:51pm
More about:

Authorities in Amsterdam have decided to introduce tough measures to deal with unruly and violent behaviour in and around the city's most popular hot spots.

Starting tomorrow evening, police will be allowed to arrest and fine any reveller -  whether sober, drunken to excess, or high - who gets into brawls on Amsterdam's nightlife streets. Yelling and hollering will likewise not be tolerated. The new measures will apply on an ongoing basis from Thursday to Sunday evenings and are targeting nightlife goers and taxi drivers alike.

Amsterdam city council had been planning to implement the measures in the near future, but an incident involving the death of a passenger by a taxi driver last weekend has accelerated the process. In Amsterdam's central Leidseplein square on Saturday evening, the taxi driver apparently hit the passenger after an argument broke out between them. The 44-year-old passenger was taken to hospital but died a few hours later on Sunday morning. The taxi driver has been charged with gross maltreatment resulting in death.

It is common knowledge that drugs and alcohol are roots of all evil existent in our present days society. These measures seem fair enough to me, otherwise we won`t be able to cut it off but by banning regulatory terms. I have seen that so many teen alcohol rehab centers support the idea of building a decent society for our dear ones that face such addictive issues. One voice against so many obstacles, but we`ll make it eventually.

"Authorities in Amsterdam have decided to introduce tough measures to deal with unruly and violent behaviour in and around the city's most popular hot spots." { For the "authorities" to intoduce tough measures on unruly and violent behaviours, the behaviours must have been going on for some time. What would cause people to be unruly and violent? Do you think drugs and alcohol played a part in altering the minds of those innocent rude and violent people? No, just can't be! Not soft drugs like marijuana and Dutch gin, just can't be. Those Christians are at it again. { One of the most tolerant societies in the world and now they are acting like tyrants. { Isn't it amazing how alcohol and drugs release the inhibitions of violent people? The violence and rudness were already there but it only took a couple hits on the bong and a little gin to release the violence.
