The Dutch capital Amsterdam may have officially become cheaper to live in but some of its burgers are still feeling the pinch. There is bad news today for fast-food lovers as research shows the city’s beef patties are the most expensive in Europe.
The survey by Mercer on living costs, looked at how much expats spend on food and rent. With an average price of 6,15 euros, a beefburger meal with chips and a soft drink in Amsterdam will set you back more than in any other European capital. In Moscow the snack costs an average of just over three euros.
Amsterdam fell from 25th to 29th place on the list and the Russian capital – once considered the most expensive city in the world – fell two places. Surprisingly, perhaps, Paris was higher than London and the EU capital Brussels was at the bottom of the table in 41st position.
Researchers say Tokyo is the costliest place to live, whilst misers should head to Johannesburg in South Africa.
