Amnesty International has criticized the anti-terrorism policies adopted by Saudi Arabia in the wake of 9/11. Amnesty reports that more than 3000 people have been imprisoned for years without being charged or appearing in court.
People have also apparently been killed under "uncertain circumstances" under the guise of the "war against terror". Hundreds of people have been convicted in secret trials and Amnesty believes a number of them have been sentenced to death. The human rights organisation also reports the use of torture to extract confessions or as a punishment following conviction.
