Al Jazeera to broadcast Israeli-German match

Published on 14 September 2009 - 5:40pm
More about:

The Palestinian News Network, PNN, reports that the Arab satellite news channel Al Jazeera has decided to broadcast Israeli sporting events. The Palestinian website writes that the Israeli daily Yediot Achronot has hailed Al Jazeera's decision to broadcast Tuesday's European Champions League match between Maccabi Haifa and FC Bayern (Munich) as suggesting that a "new Middle East" is starting to emerge.

PNN quotes the conservative Israeli daily as saying that the move is a radical shift from Al Jazeera's previous position, since a similar event was not broadcast in 2006.
