More about:

An airborne landing of 1,000 parachutists near Arnhem in the east of the country has attracted tens of thousands of spectators.

The event is part of the annual commemoration of the World War II operation Market Garden whose goal was to seize a number of strategic bridges across the Rhine, Meuse and Waal. The parachutists participating in the show were British and Dutch soldiers on active duty. They jumped out of Hercules transport planes. More events marking the World War II operation are being staged this the weekend.
