Afghan soldiers killed by NATO air strike

Published on 7 November 2009 - 3:16pm
More about:

NATO forces have mistakenly killed seven Afghan soldiers and police in an air strike while searching two missing US soldiers.

The Afghan defence ministry says 25 other soldiers, including five Americans, were injured in the raid. The patrol was combing the remote province of Badghis when they clashed with Taliban militants. An ISAF spokesperson has confirmed it gave air support but stresses that there is no evidence of friendly fire as yet. ISAF says it is investigating the issue.
