Afghan President Hamid Karzai has been sworn in for a second term in the capital Kabul.
His inauguration was attended by 800 guests, including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen.
In his inauguration speech he pledged to fight corruption, which he said was "a dangerous problem". He said his new government would be "competent and just" The president is under great pressure to implement good governance and crack down on corruption.
The first round of the presidential elections was marred by electoral fraud. The run-off was cancelled after Mr Karzai's only rival Abdullah Abdullah withdrew from the race because he felt a fair election was impossible. The president has invited Dr Abdullah to join a government of national union.
