Presidential elections are being held in the break-away region of Abkhazia. Widely tipped to win is incumbent pro-Russian President Sergei Bagapsh.
Over 130,000 people can cast their vote. In the early 1990s Abkhazia broke away from Georgia, which never recognised the region's independence. The region was recognised by Russia after going to war with Georgia over Abkhazia and South Ossetia, another rebel region in Georgia.
