A 360 degree view of the world

Published on : 2 December 2012 - 11:18am | By ((C) Cartoon Movement)
More about:

Monday sees the launch of a new RNW cartoon project. Following the successful Cartoon Spring Competition earlier this year, RNW’s Arab desk is again collaborating with Cartoon Movement, this time to look at the world from different perspectives with 360 Degrees

The aim of the project is to illuminate the differences and similarities between Arab perspectives and those from the rest of the world on a range of themes, thus offering a 360 degree view of the world. Every week, RNW will post a question on social media and RNW's Arab site as well as via media partners, and people can tweet their views on the subject to #360D. Professional cartoonists from the Arab region and other parts of the world will then draw cartoons based on the tweets.

We’ll cover a wide range of topics, such as: what are the borders of personal freedom? Is a veiled woman in the West the same as a veiled woman in an Arab country? How important is your job for you? And where would you like to live? Does what looks like oppression in the West, look like respect in the East?

Each week the best two cartoons will be published on the RNW and Cartoon Movement sites, as well as by our partners. The people whose tweets inspire the winning cartoons will be mentioned in all publications and win a full-colour print of the cartoon. The first week’s subject will be announced Monday the 3rd of December on our Arab website and on Twitter and Facebook.
