80 civilians killed by Dutch mission to Uruzgan

According to figures from the Ministry of Defence, at least 80 civilians have been killed by the Dutch Armed Forces in Afghanistan.

 

The commercial broadcaster RTL gained the information through freedom of information laws.
 

Most of the victims - 70 - were killed in Uruzgan province during the attack on Chora in the summer of 2007. The Dutch government has awarded a total of 350,000 euros in compensation. The money was paid in dollars. The government awarded 1500 dollars per victim to surviving relatives. That amount is approximately a year's salary in Afghanistan.
