Seven people have died and hundreds been hospitalised so far this week as a result of swine flu in the Netherlands.
On Thursday, the flu claimed the lives of a 5-year-old girl who already had health problems and a 35-year-old man who had not.
Earlier this week, a 3-year-old girl, two women (one aged 21 and the other 53) and two men (aged 58 and 64) died as a result of the flu (known as Mexican flu in the Netherlands).
So far, 611 people have been hospitalised, with nearly half the admissions occurring this week, showing infections are on the increase.
National Institute of Public Health (RIVM) figures show that, so far, a total of 17 people have died in the Netherlands after being infected with the A(H1N1) virus which causes swine flu.
