At least 15 people have been killed in the recent rioting in the Gabonese city of Port Gentil according to supporters of the opposition candidate Pierre Mamboundou who lost in the presidential elections at the end of August. Members of the opposition say the number of dead is much higher.
The riots began after the late president's son, Ali Ben Bongo, was announced the winner of the presidential elections. His victory is controversial as the opposition candidates say electoral fraud took place.
