More about:

At least 10 people have been killed in clashes between the Philippine police and Communist rebels.

Police officers raided a camp of the New People's Army near the town of Rosario. Ten insurgents were killed in the ensuing gun battle. The police found landmines and assault rifles at the camp.

In a separate incident on the island of Masbate, a police officer was killed when he ran into an ambush. The NPA is blamed for the attack.
