South Africa: Alexandra is one of Johannesburg's toughest neighbourhoods - nearly 100 murders were reported in the disctict in 2009. For the last 11 years residents have been taking security into their own hands, patrolling the streets at weekends and carrying out spot-checks to stamp out crime.
