The first World Cup ever organised in Africa kicks off this Friday in Johannesburg, South Africa. Jan Roelfs, one of the senior sport commentators from the NOS, the Dutch national broadcaster, will be there to experience it all. In his professional capacity but also as a fervent soccer fan.
Based in the bush, as he says himself, between Polokwane and Nelspruit, in the North East part of the country, Roelfs will be writing as from this week a blog - World Cup in the Bush - for Radio Netherlands Worldwide sharing with us his experience during the whole competition.
"I don't know what I will write about. It could be the cultural aspect, political aspect, football aspect... I don't know. I also need to surprise myself." says Roelfs.
Get to know this special reporter, who has interviewed most of the big names in the sport world in the video below. And watch out for his blog as from this week on the Africa and Afrique websites.

what does jan roelfs mean by world cup in the bush. If am right is it Africa which is a bush or what please let us realize the extent of giving respect to humans in Africa we are also God's handiwork am highly disappointing a senior journalist could speak like that. That isn't fair he should be sued by the law court.
Thank you for your comment. What Jan Roelfs meant is that he will be staying at a lodge in the bush, basically in the middle of nowhere. And his blog will be about his experience of the World Cup based there. It is not Jan's intention in any way to degrade the people of Africa. We hope this helps.
