One of Ivory Coast’s best-known musicians, Meiway, was recently in The Hague. The Dutch city is home to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the prison where former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo is being held.
In this exclusive interview with RNW, the singer apologizes to his fans for causing divisions among them during the post-electoral crisis that swept his country in 2010 and 2011. He also calls for the release of Gbagbo, who stands accused of committing crimes against humanity and could be the first president ever tried by the ICC.
