The good, the bad and the icy

Published on : 6 February 2012 - 4:16pm | By Davion Ford (Photo: NOS)
More about:

It finally looks and feels like winter in the Netherlands and this past week's cold weather has seen thousands of Dutch people enjoying the snow and ice.

The Dutch are fervently hoping the famous Eleven Cities Tour ice skating marathon can be held this year, but it remains to be seen whether Mother Nature will cooperate.

And it's not all fun and games, the icy weather has also led to chaos on the country's rail network, much to the chagrin of officials who promised this year would be different... and to the disappointment of many regular commuters.
