If interest rates remain as low as they are now, two million people could see pensions cuts as early as next year, the Federation of Dutch Pension Funds warns.
The Federation oversees 350 pension funds. Interest rates, a spokesperson explained, are currently at an historic low and, if they don’t go up by the end of the year, yet more pension funds could be in trouble.
The Federation says it does not want to draw premature conclusions, but it does question whether today’s low interest rates really reflect actual market developments.
