The Serbian police have arrested a man who threatened to blow up Dutch dikes in a video he posted on YouTube.
Serbian media reported on Thursday that Miroljub Petrovic was arrested in the capital Belgrade.
In his YouTube video Petrovic can be seen standing on a dune near the town of Wassenaar, where he threatened to flood the Netherlands by blowing up its sea dikes. He said he would carry out his threat if ‘patriotic parties’ came to power in Sunday’s Serbian elections.
Petrovic said the Netherlands could only escape disaster by making sure that Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic and Vojislav Seselj were released from the special UN wing at the Scheveningen prison where they are being held pending their trial at the Yugoslavia Tribunal in The Hague.
The Belgrade court has 48 hours to decide whether Petrovic should be extradited to the Netherlands.
