KLM to introduce ‘social seating’

Published on 6 December 2011 - 2:29pm
More about:

Hoping to sit next to a cute blonde (or brunette) on your long flight home? Or perhaps you'd rather share an armrest with a CEO so you can pitch your latest and greatest ideas. That might just become possible using Air France / KLM's "social seating" service.

The idea is that passengers will be able to link their social media profile - such as Facebook or LinkedIn - to their check-in information and then choose a suitable seating partner based their profile.

KLM says the service will be available to all passengers checking-in online, but it will be up to travellers whether they make their social media profiles available.

The airline says social seating could create networking opportunities for business travellers. KLM hopes to launch the new service next year.
