Iraqis reject Dutch minister's expulsion deal

Published on 12 May 2012 - 5:00pm
More about:

A solution has yet to be found for the Iraqis who have pitched a tent camp in protest at their expulsion from the Netherlands, the interior ministry said on Friday evening.

The Iraqis have set up a camp in the municipality of Ter Apel in the northern province of Groningen. On Friday, Asylum Minister Gerd Leers offered the Iraqis a week’s time to reach an agreement, but the proposal was rejected. The Iraqis met with Minister Leers in The Hague. He offered those willing to leave the country free housing. Those not willing to do so, would not be given housing.
