Five new Mexican flu deaths in Netherlands

Published on 3 February 2011 - 11:35pm
More about:

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) has announced that five people died of the Mexican flu  - A(H1N1) - last week, bringing the total since October to 25.

Last week, 77 patients suffering from Mexican flu were admitted to hospital. The total number of people admitted to hospital with the disease now stands at 476 since October last year.

The Netherlands is still in the grips of an epidemic of the ‘normal’ flu, even though it is showing signs of  levelling off. An RIVM spokesperson said it was too soon to say that the flu epidemic was waning.
