Eleven cases of A(H1N1) flu

Published on 6 January 2011 - 6:05pm
More about:

Eleven people infected with the A(H1N1) virus have been admitted to hospitals in the eastern Dutch town of Nijmegen. However, the regional health authorities say there is no cause for alarm.

The Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre has reported seven confirmed cases of Mexican flu and the Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital (CWZ) four. A spokesperson for the CWZ also said there was no reason to be concerned, but added that there was "reason to be alert"

The Nijmegen health authorities spoke of a "normal pattern that meets expectations." On Thursday, the health authorities were flooded with calls from concerned parents. In late December, the A(H1N1) virus claimed the lives of two children from the Nijmegen region: a four-year-old and an eleven-year-old.
