More about:

Dutch Megaupload programmer and shareholder Bram van der Kolk has been released on bail by a New Zealand court.

Van der Kolk, Megaupload boss Kim Schmitz and two other suspects were arrested in Auckland on 20 January following an extradition request from the United States authorities.

They are accused of conspiracy to commit copyright infringement, conspiracy to commit racketeering, conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement.

The Megaupload site was closed down on 19 January. Four of the seven suspects in the case have been arrested. Bram van der Kolk is under house arrest pending his extradition procedure, but the court refused to release Kim Schmitz on bail.
