Dutch extend Afghanistan training mission

Published on 19 June 2012 - 11:08pm
More about:

Since the beginning of June, Dutch personnel have been training police officers in the Aliabad district of Kunduz province in Afghanistan. It is the second area outside the provincial capital, Kunduz City, where Dutch police trainers have started operating. The first was Khan Abad.

The government has written to MPs telling them that the police training mission in Afghanistan will be gradually extended to other districts in Kunduz province depending on the security situation.

The training mission, which was a politically contentious issue, began a year ago and is due to continue until mid-2014.
