Dutch express sympathy for Norway victims

Published on 23 July 2011 - 4:21pm
More about:

Queen Beatrix, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and MPs are among the many Dutch to express their sympathy for the victims of Friday’s twin attacks in Norway and their families.  A bombing in Oslo and a subsequent shooting spree on a nearby island left over 90 dead and scores injured.

There are no indications of any Dutch victims. Some 2,500 Dutch are thought to live in the capital Oslo, and between 8,000 and 10,000 in all of Norway, according to the Dutch foreign ministry. It is not clear how many Dutch tourists are currently in the country.

The National Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism says the attacks are a purely Norwegian affair and therefore do not warrant any additional security measures in this country. As a precaution, the Norwegian embassy and consulates are under close surveillance.

Norwegians in the Netherlands wishing to share their grief are invited to attend the Norwegian Church in Rotterdam, which will commemorate the attacks during Sunday’s service.

All political parties in the Netherlands expressed shock at the twin attacks. Prior to the tragedy, the gunman is thought to have expressed sympathy for Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party, which he described on the internet as “the only real party for conservatives”. In a reaction, MP Wilders said “the attacker is a violent, sick psychopath”, adding that the Freedom Party “abhors everything the man stands for and what he has done.”

The so-called "Freedom Party abhors everything the man stands for and what he has done."
Then the "Freedom Party" hates itself - and should distance itself from hate of Leftists, but it won't.
The reality is that the most radicalized individual in the Western world is Geert Wilders, not a "jihadist." Wilders is allowed to freely travel and radicalize others, and it is possible that attacks on American Muslims could have been the result of Wilders' travels to the US to pump up hate of Muslims. In Norway, Wilders has blood on his hands and that now extends to the Dutch government and voters that have allowed Wilders free reign to spread this kind of evil.
At least realize that "Muslims" are not the only ones that commit terrorism.

Norway's FrP has considerably more support then the PVV has in the Netherlands. PVV got 15% of the votes during the elections in 2010 (12,5% at the provincial elections of 2011), FrP got 23% of the votes in 2009. So Norway has enough problems of it's own when it comes to extreme right.
And if American Muslims are attacked, then that happens because there are apparently Americans who hate Muslims. Probably nine eleven 2001 has something to do with that. So instead of blaming someone from another country, blame the racists that exist in abundance in your own country. The Norwegian killer was also quite charmed by Pamela Geller and the Tea Party. So does that make Americans to blame for the Norwegian killings?

You talk through your arse! Wilders is no Racist nor has he ever preached violence!

Idiots are evenly distributed all over the planet and there will always be those that find sickening inspiration in dubious books (e.g. bible or koran), violent/political movies, violent games, music with or without hidden messages (Beatles KMFDM), ideas left and right, religions, doctrines and the list goes on to probably cover any utterance ever made. We will never be able to stop these individuals from finding inspiration and excuses for their heinous deeds as they were most likely poised to commit them in one way or another anyway. The best way would be to avoid any build up of tension in society something almost impossible to attain with the current amount of global changes. With change comes friction and to deal with friction you will need an open and free society capable of dealing with discussions that will include in-pleasantries and/or strong opinions. Freedom of expression should never be sacrificed, just because some loser might get pushed over the edge. If you do away with freedom of expression the end result will be far worse then this one very, very sad case.

To top it off, Wilders has stressed on more than one occasion that he has nothing against Muslims but that he hates Islam and many of the messages/decrees/orders contained in the Koran. Muslims are human beings that like anybody else have the capacity to have a change of mind or change of heart while the latter is a 7th century ideology transfixed for all eternity based on a book claimed to contain the literal word of god full with calls to apartheid and orders to violence to be committed without question by its followers.

If eslaporte is in favor of muzzling any freedom of expression that might entice/incite violence, without any doubt, the Koran would enter her list at number one to probably never leave that position until the end of days, followed by a far distance on #2: Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf. However, Geert Wilders' rhetoric would never end up on this list as contrary to those books he only criticizes ideas and ideologies, he also does not discriminate people based on race, gender, sexual preference or disability, something that is done in those two books at nausea.

Go and educate yourself.
