Zambia: four firms to bid for telecom stake

Published on 13 January 2010 - 4:02pm
More about:

Four firms from Russia, India, Angola and Libya have been shortlisted for the next round of bidding for a partial stake in Zambia's state-run telecom company, Zamtel, an official said Wednesday.

"All the four companies and a consortia that submitted the first round bids on December 23, 2009 for up to 75 percent stake in Zamtel have been short listed to proceed to the next round of bidding," Muhabi Lungu, acting director of the Zambia Development Agency said.

He said the next round of bidding would begin during the week starting January 18 and the short-listed bidders would have an opportunity to conduct further due diligence.
