The 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off in South Africa on June 11, 2010. Radio Netherlands Worldwide brings you a series of video interviews of African soccer players playing in the Eredivisie, the Dutch first division.
Ghanaian footballer Matthew Amoah (30), plays for the club NAC Breda. He is selected to compete in the coming World Cup with the Black Stars, Ghana's national team.
On Ghana’s chances in the competition, Amoah thinks they should better their past years’ performance.
"We can reach the knockout stage, we should take it match by match."
When asked who he would like to meet in the final, he has this to say:
''The Netherlands where I lived for 13 years, became my second home. It would be nice to meet them in the final. They have good players"
And then jokingly he adds:
”If we do meet them in the final, they can be happy with second place ...''
Matthew Amoah likes the Netherlands: It's a great place to live in… when it is summer. People are outside and you can meet up to eat something. It's great! But when it's bad weather, you must stay inside… and that’s really boring.''
Regarding the best football moment in his career, he says that besides the qualification for the World Cup, it was beating Czech Republic in June 2006 2-0.
