The 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off in South Africa on June 11, 2010. Radio Netherlands Worldwide brings you a series of video interviews of African soccer players playing in the Eredivisie, the Dutch first division.
These players come from the five Sub-Saharan African countries qualified for the World Cup: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa.
We continue our series with Eyong Enoh from Cameroon. Still 24 years of age, Enoh plays for the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam, a team which needs no introduction.
In this exclusive interview for RNW, Enoh says that this 2010 World Cup will be a very competitive one. He also shares with us his belief in God.
Here is an excerpt of this interview:
Who do you think will win the World Cup?
On paper there are the big names like Brasil, Spain, England and Germany.
But I think it is a big tournament and a very competitive one.
How far do you think the Netherlands can go?
They have very good players, with a lot of class. They play in the best teams in Europe.
They possess all the qualities to go as far as possible. Even all the way to the final.
You are going to South Africa soon for this great competition,
what will you bring in your luggage?
Often when I travel, the most important thing I carry is my Bible and my gospel music.
