WIN A DIGITAL SLR CAMERA! - You've got until Sept 15
What does independence look like for you? Endless skies? A heated debate? Your baby taking her first steps? On the occasion of 50 years of African independence the RNW Africa desk is hosting a photo competition! The best picture wins a spanking new digital SLR camera. So get shooting!

Here's how you can join:
- Send a maximum of 3 pictures before September 15th, 2010 to with ‘Independence Photo Contest’ in the subject line.
- Alternatively, upload your picture to the Facebook fanpage of Radio Netherlands Worldwide – Africa desk. You need to have a Facebook account and ‘like’ RNW’s Africa desk.
- You can also join the competition via Flickr. Upload your picture to Radio Netherlands Worldwide’s Flickr group (make sure you pick the one called 'Independence'!). To do so, you need to have your own Flickr photo account.
Make sure you give us a short description of each photo and who/what we see in it. And don't forget to add your name, email address and phone number, you might win! This competition is reserved only for amateur photographers (students of art colleges can join too). The contest will run until September 15th, 2010. The lucky winner will hear back from us before October 1st, 2010.
We don't like small print, so here it is out in the open:
Copyright of all entries remain with the rightful photographer. The photos will only feature in RNW’s independence dossier as long as it's online and on social media sites under a Creative Commons licence. We will mention the name of the photographer whenever a picture is used, we will not use your photos for commercial purposes and we will not make derivates from it. If you happen to work at RNW, you can still send in your picture, but it’s highly unlikely that you will win. If you work at one of our partner radio stations, you can win (but that photo better be real good!).
