Anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders has added his voice to protests against plans to build an Islamic cultural centre in the vicinity from Ground Zero in New York. The Dutch politician was speaking at a ceremony marking the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the US. He had been invited by a group called Stop Islamisation Of America.
Mr Wilders said the WTC buildings, know as the Twin Towers, were chosen as terrorist targets because of their symbolic significance. “No place on earth had a more multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-lingual workforce than New York’s proud towers. That is exactly why they were targeted.”
“We who have come to speak today, object to this mosque project because its promoter and his wealthy sponsors have never suggested building a centre to promote tolerance and interfaith understanding where it is really needed: In Mecca – a town where non-Muslims are not even allowed to enter, let alone build churches, synagogues, temples or community centres.”
Nations of tolerance
Building a mosque close to Ground Zero would betray those who were killed on 11 September 2001, Mr Wilders added. “For their sakes we cannot tolerate a mosque on or near Ground Zero. For their sakes loud and clear we say: No mosque here! For their sakes, we must draw the line. So that New York, rooted in Dutch tolerance, will never become New Mecca.”
Frequently interrupted by applause and chanting, Mr Wilders continued his milder-than-usual speech by praising New York for the freedom and tolerance which it is famed for. But "a tolerant society is not a suicidal society. It must defend itself against the powers of darkness, the force of hatred and the blight of ignorance. It cannot tolerate the intolerant – and survive," he warned.
Mr Wilders noted that a poll conducted in the immediate wake of 9/11 showed that "two thirds of the Muslim immigrants in the Netherlands expressed partial or full understanding for the terrorists. If a mosque were built here on Ground Zero such people would feel triumphant."

Would that we had a hundred with the courage and clear-sightedness of Geert Wilders.
Instead, we in Canada have a bunch of grovelling career politicians who, because the two main parties are neck and neck in the polls, say nothing. They are so are terrified of losing electoral advantage. And they are aided in their cowardice by the liberal/left who have the real control of the levers of power and refuse to see any facts that don't fit their narrative. And let's not even begin to talk about that Muslim apologist who leads America.
Take care of Geert, Dutchmen. You've already lost Fortuyn and van Gogh - two who dared to speak out against these religious facsists who cloak their Nazism behind the Koran.
It is said that some of Wilders's supporters were "shocked" to hear that he wants to ban the Koran in Holland. The only non-Muslims who would "shocked" at the call to ban the Koran are those who haven't read it. Their blatant ignorance of what the Koran contains hardly inspires me to respect their opinion on the subject.
If I understand correctly, what Wilders has said is that SINCE "Mein Kampf" is banned in Holland, there is little reason not to ban the Quran as well, because it is every bit as warmongering as Hitler's tome. In fact, I've read both, and "Mein Kampf" is FAR milder and less hateful than the Koran. So, the Koran should actually be banned BEFORE "Mein Kampf."
Moreover, if Wilders can be tried for "hate speech" or something to the effect for simply exposing violent Quran quotes, then the book itself must be viewed as "hate speech," which it clearly is.
The world simply must get over its childish and hypocritical myopia when it comes to Islam. How much blood and gore will you accept before you see the light?
Forget your own politicians. They are too scared of the muslims to take any action. This "battle" is not against a religion,or individual muslim people, it is against a nasty political ideology that relies on the koran to justify the threats of violence to get its way, which incidentally leads to their aim of creating and dominating a worldwide state of Islam. Heaven help us. And heaven help Geert Wilders who is an honest and brave man. Pres. Obama said that America is not at war against terrorists. But surely he must see that Islam and its terrorists are fighting a war against the West. A sneaky unconventional war of infiltration, but nevertheless a war. Are you brave enough to recognise this?

I read about Geert Wilders in both English and Dutch and I wish we had someone like this in Canada. I don't understand why the CDA has such a problem accepting him or his message. I think that in the next Dutch elections he will end up as Minister President!
I have listened to Geert W. for almost a year. He is the most eloquant speaker I ever heard. He is so self confident and knowledgable. He does not yell or rant. I hope more and more people worldwide start listening carefully.
I respect him very much for saying the truth and being courageous, he is the leader & Dutch people should be proud of him.
Qur’an was simply a reflection of Muhammad’s demented character and of his misplaced ambition. The more you know, the more you will come to despise the fraud Muhammad perpetrated on his fellow Arabs and they on human kind. To know the Qur’an is to reject Islam.
What a man! What courage, what conviction. I wish he was a leader in our country. He is a leader of the world. Do the Dutch people know we think of him as bigger than a rock star over here?
