Two senior Rwandan generals have been arrested over accusations of corruption and misconduct, the army announced on Tuesday.
Former airforce chief Lieutenant General Charles Muhire and Major General Emmanuel Karenzi Karake, an ex-deputy chief of the United Nations-African Union peacekeeping force in Darfur, were suspended from the force.
"Muhire was suspended for the serious crime of corruption and abuse of power, (Karake) for misconduct against the principles guiding the Rwandan defence forces discipline," army spokesperson Major Jill Rutaremara told AFP.
