At least ten people have been killed in an attack in the Gereshk district in the Afghan province of Helmand.

The intended target was a military convoy, but the victims are reportedly all Afghan civilians. Many people were out on the streets in connection with the Afghan New Year's celebrations when the attack took place. NATO forces are engaged in an offensive against the Taliban in Helmand.
