Sudan prepares first female football team

Published on : 16 January 2010 - 9:00am | By RNW Radio Netherlands Worldwide
More about:

Despite the southern part of the country being liberal, women running around in football shorts would be unthinkable in most of Sudan's society. However, the World's Football Association (FIFA) has ordered every country to have female football team.

So Sudan's football association has set up its first female football team. And female footballers started their training at the Sudan Academy for Football in the mid-of the capital, Khartoum.

But not everybody feels this is appropriate.
